And when we stop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">questioning<\/a>, we stop learning. We stop looking, and therefore stop seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A well-earned confidence comes from experience and familiarity with the challenge. As we progress in our studies, we naturally become more confident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we can remain confident and still accept the possibility that we have it all wrong. We can have what some call \u201cStrong opinions, loosely held.\u201d We can act with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/positive-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">decisiveness<\/a> and confidence, with one eye peeled for other possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our music, we can fully commit to a fingering, technique, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/musical-expression-guitar-phrasing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">phrasing<\/a>. And as we do, we can also know that there may be a better way. Still, we have to do something, and until a better option presents itself, we can commit to the current decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The well-named Judge Learned Hand calls this openness \u201cliberty\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when we assume there are factors we don\u2019t know, and possibilities we haven\u2019t thought of, we are indeed liberated. Our egos and identities are no longer threatened by new information. We\u2019re less likely to succumb to the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.behavioraleconomics.com\/resources\/mini-encyclopedia-of-be\/sunk-cost-fallacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">sunk-cost fallacy<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This non-attachment to our beliefs can lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/curiosity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">curiosity<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/exaggeration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">exploration<\/a>, and new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classicalguitarshed.com\/easy-pieces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">discoveries<\/a>. And this can lead us to become more comfortable with the unknown.
